Immanuel Home Church Survey
In mid-January 2021 we plan to launch “Home Churches.” An Immanuel Home Church is a small gathering of believers who live out their faith in intentional Christian community. They meet together regularly, encourage one another through prayer, grow in truth through engaging in conversations around the weekly teaching, and care for one another lovingly through the milestones and the ups and downs of life.
The Home Churches will typically meet in homes (although some could meet at the church building or other locations), and will be modelled after the early church as described in Acts chapter 2.
There are two types of Home Churches: Watch Parties and After Parties.
When it comes to Home Churches, there is a lot of flexibility and freedom in how you shape your meetings in a way that works for you and your group. The days and times, frequency of meetings, and locations where you may choose to meet are up to each Home Church group to decide. Because of COVID-19 restrictions in Nova Scotia groups meeting like this are temporarily limited to 10 adults or less. In the future, Home Churches could be larger.
Home Churches (especially “After Parties”) will be planned for two ‘semesters’ each year. A FALL session and a WINTER session. These are the times each year when there will be a Sunday sermon series that all Home Church groups will be focused on for discussion times. Groups could choose to meet for a third Spring session to do an independent study of their choosing. Home Church WATCH PARTIES might just choose to keep meeting on an ongoing basis, which is also fine. As we’ve said, there’s a great deal of flexibility when it comes to what Home Church gatherings could be.
